SPORTFIT was founded in 2008 by John Lockwood and Robert Clarke to develop SIRA® an acronym for the Sports Injury Rehabilitation Assistant, a revolutionary new concept in fitness and injury rehabilitation.
Robert is an internationally renowned personal trainer and fitness coach with over 30 years experience, training over 300,000 clients, both amateur and professional.
John has over 25 years experience as a successful inventor & entrepreneur, creating and launching many highly acclaimed products in fields as diverse as construction, flood defence and baby safety equipment.
By combining Johns knowledge with Rob’s unique stretching technique John was able to design a machine capable of consistent, balanced, safe and measured stretching hence SIRA® was born.
In April 2010 Sportfit exhibited SIRA® for the very first time at the 38th International Exhibition of Invention in Geneva Switzerland, the most prestigious Invention Exhibition in the World. During the 5 day event over 200 people got to experience the SIRA® stretch and Sportfit were awarded the Gold Medal for Medical Devices as judged by a panel of Doctors and Medical Professionals.
We were awarded the World Intellectual Property Organizations Gold Medal for Best Inventors 2010, beating over 1000 entries from 45 countries and becoming the first British ever to receive this award in it’s 15 year history.
We were invited to exhibit SIRA® at IIFME3 the 3rd International Invention Fair of the Middle East in Kuwait, hosted by the Kuwait Science Club under the Patronage of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait. SIRA® was awarded the Gold Medal in the category Medical Equipment as judged by a panel of Doctors and Medical Professionals.
This time SIRA® went on to win the 1st prize overall beating over 700 entries from 35 countries and earning Sportfit a $15,000 cash prize. Another British 1st.
